IT IS IMPORTANT THAT A LANDOWNER FEEL SECURE THAT THEY ARE GETTING PAID FOR EVERY LOG THAT IS CUT AND LEAVES THE LANDING. TO ENSURE THAT THIS HAPPENS, WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES IN PLACE:
A forester first makes a cruise of your lot, giving a report to the Landowner of the wood that can be harvested, usually giving the Landowner several options on how they can proceed.
This option will include a close estimate on the amount of dollars that will be received from the harvest.
As the wood is harvested and trucked it is associated with a Trip Ticket that is written for every load.
Wood is scaled either by Fort Mountain or the mill to which the wood has been taken. The scale slips will be sent to the Landowner so they can see exactly what was taken and what is being paid for.
Fort Mountain uses Allegro Data Collectors, into which all scaled wood is entered. This Allegro 2 allows us to scale logs in the yard and print the scale sheets later.
The Trip Ticket, with its scale, is entered into our logging program and a check with a Stumpage Report is sent to the Landowner.
